Why I Wrote This Book

Lacking passion for any other subject or endeavor outside of the auto industry, I asked myself how I could assist others with the numerous problems I had faced every day for the last quarter-century—and voilà! The answer came to me: Use the journalism degree your parents paid for in order to write and teach others what you know. Unlike the days when I was beholden to the automakers and bankers who held me hostage, I had nothing to lose. So, I started writing.

Today, in lieu of the grilling I once took at cookouts—fielding questions about how everything works in the car business—I can simply hand out a signed copy of Car Wreck.
